Lake Sammamish

Icon Lake SammamishThe Foundation helped restore a six-acre section of critical habitat back to natural conditions in an area of Lake Sammamish State Park where native wildlife and plants have been displaced, causing disruption to ecosystems. This important project focused on removing invasive species and replanting with native Lake Sammamishvegetation, improving vital salmon runs, providing additional room for blue heron and other bird species, and restoring wetland areas.

Lake Sammamish State Park is a 512-acre day-use park with 6,858 feet of waterfront on Lake Sammamish. The area around the lake was an important culture zone for local Indian tribes for centuries. The park provides swiming beaches, a boat launch picnic facilities as well as trails through deciduous forest and wetland vegetation for the enjoyment of visitors.
