Preserving and enhancing habitat and outdoor enjoyment for current and future generations.
The Washington State Parks Foundation is a private, nonprofit organization authorized by the Washington State Legislature in 2000 to encourage gifts to support and improve state parks. Contributions to the Foundation are deductible under Sec. 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.
Our funding supplements, but does not replace, state legislative appropriations to the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission.
The Foundation’s Projects
Thanks to the generosity of donors who are passionate in supporting our state’s parks, the Washington State Parks Foundation is helping make one of the nation’s premier park systems even better. We are funding projects to:
- Build and improve trails
- Restore marine life and tidepools in Puget Sound
- Maintain access to open spaces in high density areas
- Provide environmental education to children and adults
- Improve facilities at individual state parks
